Fall Fun, Haunted History & Halloween in Louisville

Fall Fun, Haunted History & Halloween in Louisville

October in Louisville is packed with fall fun, local history and plenty of Halloween spirit. From spooky stories and costume contests to floating pumpkins, trick-or-treating and Halloween celebrations on Main Street, there are plenty of reasons to get out and explore.

A little Louisville history, with a spooky twist

The Louisville Historical Museum has a particularly atmospheric October planned. Explore Louisville’s past with Cemetery Walking Tours on October 7 and 20, History Happy Hour: The Galloping Gourmet on October 14, and Stories in the Dark on October 22. The Museum’s October calendar confirms all four programs. City of Louisville

Books, ghosts and October reading

The Louisville Public Library is getting into spooky season too. Its October staff booklists include ghost stories, horror and lighter Halloween reads for younger readers. City of Louisville

Book lovers can also browse the Louisville Public Library Foundation Used Book Sale October 2–4, with books priced at $1 and proceeds supporting Library programs, technology and special projects. City of Louisville

Pumpkins, costumes and family fun

The City of Louisville has plenty happening throughout October, including the Fairy House Walk October 10–18 and Floating Pumpkin Patch on October 23.

Then on Sunday, October 25, families can head to Trunk or Treat off McCaslin for costumes, decorated trunks, treats and more.

And keep those costumes ready for Louisville’s Halloween Parade on Main Street on October 30, bringing kids and families downtown for one of Louisville’s Halloween traditions.

Halloween at local businesses

There’s plenty happening at Chamber member businesses too. Art Major Studio hosts Kids Night In on October 23, offering a fun evening for the kids and a little free time for parents.

On October 27, Crystal Springs Brewing turns its Tuesday programming spooky with Halloween-Themed Trivia and its Annual Costume Contest.

Then things get mysterious at The Jasmine Bar. The Murder Mystery Dinner Party on October 29 combines dinner with an interactive mystery, before Jasmine finishes the month with its 14th Annual Nightmare on Main Street on October 31, complete with costumes, cocktails, a haunted photo booth and dancing. The Jasmine Bar

The Halloween Silent Disco at The Louisville Underground arrives a little earlier on October 23, with an all-ages party from 6–7:30 PM followed by a 21+ party from 8:30 PM until late. Louisville Chamber of Commerce - CO

Run from the monsters

Halloween weekend also brings Monster Dash on Sunday, October 25, organized by Louisville Chamber member Endurance Sports Marketing. Costumes and Halloween spirit make this one another great addition to a very busy final week of October.

And there’s even more happening

These are just some of October’s seasonal highlights. Louisville Chamber members also have live music, comedy, trivia, bingo, football watch parties, food and drink events and plenty more happening throughout the month.
