Boulder County Climate Equity Fund accepting applications

A family with parents, aunts and two boys loads soil into the back of a white pickup truck.

Participants in a Climate Equity Fund-supported project load soil into the back of a pickup truck. The program will allow families to grow their own food this summer.

The 2026 Boulder County Climate Equity Fund (CEF) is now open and will close on Monday, Aug. 31. This year, the grant program will offer up to $2 million in grants to support community-led climate action projects, with grants ranging from $20,000 to $400,000.

Through the CEF, Boulder County aims to fund projects that take meaningful action on climate change, are driven by community needs and strengths, and will have a lasting impact on the communities they serve. Grants are designed to support frontline communities and others most impacted by the climate crisis.

Application materials and resources, including templates, FAQs, and the launch webinar, are published on the Boulder County website. To receive email updates about the CEF, sign up for the Climate Equity Fund mailing list.

New Resiliency Hub Program for nonprofits from the City of Boulder

A building is showing with a large solar array on the roof.

The City of Boulder has a new pilot program to help nonprofits install battery backup systems for resilience during power outages. Qualifying nonprofits can receive up to $50,000 toward a battery or battery-plus-solar system, plus support from a PACE advisor.

Organizations that provide — or want to provide — critical services during power disruptions (like shelter, food storage, medical equipment use or charging stations) are encouraged to apply. Submit an interest application by Aug. 14, 2026, or contact PACE (info@pacepartners.com) to learn more.

Smart water habits are good for the environment and your bottom line

A PACE advisor installs an aerator on a sink.

With drought conditions affecting our region, every gallon saved makes a difference. Fixing leaks, installing water-efficient fixtures, and encouraging mindful water use can lower your operating costs — and show customers you care about building a resilient community.

PACE Advisors can provide free high-efficiency faucet aerators and pre-rinse spray valves to Boulder County businesses and nonprofits. We can also connect you with resources to help with outdoor irrigation. Contact us today at info@pacepartners.com to get started!

What goes down the storm drain ends up in our waterways

When stormwater flows across parking lots and streets, it picks up pollutants and carries them untreated into local streams and rivers. If your staff or contractors work outside, here are a few simple steps to keep pollutants out of our waterways:

  • Cover or block storm drains during outdoor work and make sure nothing but rainwater enters them.
  • Clean up spills right away and keep materials covered when not in use.
  • Never rinse paintbrushes or equipment outside. Wash them indoors in a sink or floor drain instead.

Don't miss out on lighting rebates from Efficiency Works

A woman stands in an apron smiling with her arms crossed. The text reads Efficiency Works

Efficiency Works will stop offering rebates for commercial LED lighting fixtures after Dec. 31, 2026. If you've been thinking about upgrading your lighting, now is the time to act.

New LED fixtures can lower your energy bills, improve light quality, and cut down on maintenance. And with rebates available through the end of the year, you can offset a big chunk of the upfront cost.

Not sure where to start? Efficiency Works offers free advising to help you figure out your options. Visit the Efficiency Works website to learn more or schedule an assessment.

Rebates are available to commercial electric customers of Estes Park Power and Communications, Fort Collins Utilities, Longmont Power & Communications, or City of Loveland Utilities. To learn more, contact the Efficiency Works Business team at business@efficiencyworks.org.
