City of Louisville Monthly Community Update

October 2025

Orange flyer for "downtown Louisville FIRST FRIDAY" with bold text "Halloween on the Town" and an illustration of a pumpkin. Date: Friday, Oct. 3.

Celebrate the start of Spooky Season at October's First Friday (Oct. 3)

First Friday at the Library (5–7 p.m.)

Join us at the Library for a festive First Friday filled with art, treats, and community fun!

  • Trick-or-Treat with Artists – Meet local artists from the East Boulder County Artist Association as they showcase and sell their work. Kids are invited to trick-or-treat at each table (yes, there’s candy!).
  • Costume Exchange – Give an old costume new life (and find something new-to-you!) at the exchange hosted by the City’s Sustainability Division.

It’s free, open to all ages, and no registration is required!

First Friday at the Museum (6–8 p.m.)

Join the Historical Museum during Louisville's First Friday to learn about Halloween traditions in Louisville and experience some haunted house traditions of our own. Straight from the imagination of Louisville's children circa 1952, close your eyes and stick your hands in jars filled with creepy...or not so creepy...things... grapes or eyeballs? Let your imagination guide you and leave with a traditional Halloween treat!

Volunteer for a Louisville board, committee, or commission

Serving on a Louisville board or commission is a rewarding way to give back to your community and make a lasting impact. Your participation is an opportunity to share your passion and expertise to help shape Louisville's present and future.

The City Council is looking for a wide variety of viewpoints that represent all aspects of the community. Special skills are not required for most boards, but communication skills, problem solving, teamwork, community engagement, and a commitment to transparency are all valuable assets for Louisville's boards and commissions. Learn more about current vacancies and how to apply at LouisvilleCO.gov/Boards.

Applications will open this Friday, October 3 and close Monday, November 3.

The deadline for applications is Monday, November 3.

Not sure which board or commission is right for you?

No problem! Join us for an Open House on Wednesday, October 23 to learn more about the various boards and commissions.

October 13 is Indigenous Peoples’ Day

In celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the Louisville Historical Museum recognizes and commemorates the many Native peoples who have inhabited and continue to inhabit the land around us in Colorado and the nation at large. The holiday serves as a great time to reflect on and learn about the cultures, languages, places, and histories that have shaped Indigenous perspectives. The experiences and knowledge of Native people continue to enrich and inform our society at large.

The Museum will be featuring two special programs this month in celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Join Fred Mosqueda, the Arapaho Language and Culture Program Coordinator, on October 9, as he shares the history of the Southern Arapaho tribe in Boulder County and the work he is doing to preserve the traditions and language of his tribe for future generations. On October 24, meet Emmy-award winning producer/director Jordan Dresser at a screening of The Art of Home followed by a Q&A session. This enlightening documentary shares the story of two Indigenous artists, Ken Williams (Arapaho) and Sarah Ortegon (Shoshone), who are creating new works reflecting on their tribal homelands, the Wind River Indian Reservation.
