Louisville Together: Ballot Measures 300 and 301
Louisville Together is a broad coalition opposing Ballot Measures 300 and 301, including all seven City Council members, former mayors, affordable housing advocates, and business leaders. Along with the Downtown Business Association, Flatirons Habitat for Humanity, and Together Colorado, the Louisville Chamber endorses NO on 300/301. Please see the Voting Guide below.
Measure 300: Housing Ban
Louisville’s Measure 300 proposes an across-the-board ban on residential rezoning unless developers meet an unattainable and likely illegal 30% affordability mandate. It claims to advance Louisville’s affordable housing goals. In reality, it will make housing for seniors, families, and low-income earners much more expensive to build.
- Undermines Louisville’s existing affordable housing requirements, strips Louisville’s flexibility to negotiate better housing deals, and locks in rules that cannot be changed for years.
- Effectively blocks permanently affordable and senior housing at key sites.
- Imposes strict and likely illegal housing mandates that will make it harder to build any new housing.
- Unanimously opposed by the Louisville City Council, as well as Flatirons Habitat for Humanity, Together Colorado, the Louisville Chamber, and the Downtown Business Association.
Measure 301: Higher Fees
Louisville’s Measure 301 proposes to dramatically raise costs on all new housing and commercial developments. These costs will be passed directly to new residents and local employers.
- Louisville already requires developers to pay for growth through extensive impact fees, tap fees, permits, and City taxes.
- Louisville’s Council is unanimously opposed because it adds layers of costly fees and red tape to housing, business, and community projects.
- Financially punishes Louisville’s largest employers that want to expand.
- Major employers and housing developers will look elsewhere if 301 passes, resulting in fewer sales and property tax revenues that fund the very services that residents care about.
- Opposed by the Downtown Business Association, Flatirons Habitat for Humanity, the Louisville Chamber, and Together Colorado.
- The result? Extreme and unwanted fees that drive away jobs and investment.
- Flyers and yard signs are available for pickup at the Chamber.
