If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
In 2024, 48,821 lives were reported lost to suicide in the United States. Suicidal thoughts can start subtly — with phrases like “I wish I wasn’t here” or “Nothing matters.” Over time, these feelings can grow stronger and become life-threatening.
Warning signs to look out for:
• Increased alcohol or drug use
• Aggressive behavior
• Withdrawal from friends, family, or community
• Dramatic mood swings
• Impulsive or reckless actions
If someone you know is showing these signs, seek help immediately:
• Collecting pills or buying a weapon
• Giving away personal possessions
• Organizing affairs or paying off debts
• Saying goodbye to loved ones
Suicide is not the answer. There is hope — and you are not alone.
